Sacred South India
Temples, Sacred Mountains & Living Traditions
The Living Temple Culture of South India
South India is home to some of the oldest living spiritual traditions on Earth. Unlike many ancient cultures, the temple traditions of Tamil Nadu have continued unbroken for millennia, the same rituals performed morning and evening in the same sacred spaces for over a thousand years.
This journey takes you deep into this living world, towering gopurams adorned with painted deities, sacred fires, flower garlands, and the resonant sound of bells. We will visit the legendary sites of Arunachala, Chidambaram, Madurai, and Rameswaram, and immerse in practices that awaken the spirit and nourish the soul.
South India offers a profound counterpart to the North, quieter, more ancient in feel, and deeply connected to the feminine divine through its veneration of the great goddess Shakti.
