Coca and Despacho Ceremonies
A coca ceremony in Peru offers a profound connection to the sacred traditions of the Andes, honoring the coca leaf as a revered plant spirit deeply embedded in the lives of the Quechua people. During this ceremony, participants are guided by a highly respected Q’ero healer named Don Benito who leads prayers and offerings, known as despachos, to Pachamama (Mother Earth) and the Apus (mountain spirits). The coca leaves are carefully selected, blessed, and shared, symbolizing gratitude, balance, and the intention to harmonize with nature.
Often accompanied by stories, music, and rituals, the ceremony provides a space to reflect, set intentions, and align with the spiritual energy of the Andes. We will explore the profound concepts of ayni (sacred reciprocity) and learn about the apus—the mountain spirits revered as divine protectors of the Andean landscape. With the majestic mountains as a backdrop, these ceremonies provide deeply grounding and transformative experiences.

From nourishing soups and quinoa dishes to colorful salads and traditional Andean specialties, the cuisine is as wholesome as it is flavorful. Each bite reflects a deep connection to Pachamama (Mother Earth), offering a truly mindful dining experience that nourishes both body and soul.
Savor the magic of Peruvian gastronomy in an inspiring setting that complements the transformative journey of your visit.

The tour will include a unique opportunity to participate in a traditional cacao ceremony, a heart-opening ritual rooted in ancient Andean and Amazonian traditions. Guided by local facilitators, this sacred experience invites participants to connect deeply with themselves and the spirit of cacao, known as the “food of the gods.” During the ceremony, pure ceremonial-grade cacao is prepared and shared in a meditative setting, accompanied by music, chanting, and intention-setting.
The rich, velvety cacao serves as a gentle yet powerful plant medicine, helping to enhance inner clarity, foster emotional release, and cultivate a sense of interconnectedness.
